Meet Claudio H. varela, D.D.S., M.S.
Dr. Claudio H.. varela came to Jacksonville after spending 5 ½ years teaching at the University of Florida College of Dentistry. He is originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.
He received his dental degree in 1995 from the University of Grande Rio, graduating with Magna Cum Laude distinction, and did his endodontic residency at the University of Michigan, receiving his Master’s Degree in 2002. He became a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics in 2010.
While at the University of Florida, Dr. varela dedicated his time teaching pre-doctoral students and endodontic residents as well as conducting research to improve canal raíz disinfection. He has published articles in both national and international high-impact journals and wrote a book chapter on Single-Visit Endodontic Therapy.
He served and chaired different committees, and worked as the Pre-Doctoral Director of Endodontics. Despite his enthusiasm for education, his biggest excitement and satisfaction have been always associated with the clinical aspect of endodontics. This ultimately led him to dedicate himself to full-time patient care.
Dr. Varella has also served as the Chair for the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) Session at the American Dental Education Association (ADEA). He is a member of the AAE, member of the American Dental Association (ADA), member and past-president of the Northeastern District Dental Association (NEDDA), and member of the Jacksonville Dental Society.
Dr. Varella is committed to providing superior and compassionate care to patients and his emphasis is to create a friendly and caring office atmosphere.
